Export Performance Strengthens Again in August 2023

Abstract

A. Exports

Jakarta’s export value in August 2023 reached US$979.45 million, rose by 9.23 percent compared to July 2023 but decreased by 2.85 percent compared to August 2022.

Oil and gas exports in August 2023 were US$2.51 million, increased by 115.88 percent compared to July 2023 or rose by 121.36 percent compared to August 2022.

Non-oil and gas exports in August 2023 were US$976.94 million, rose by 9.09 percent compared to July 2023 but fell to 2.99 percent compared to August 2022.

According to main commodities, export of all main commodities increased in August 2023. The commodity with the largest increase compared to July 2023 was animal/vegetable fats and oils at US$ 64.73 million (30.48 percent).

Three main destination countries have the largest increase compared to July 2023 were Hong Kong at US$ 81.14 million (68.63 percent), followed by Japan at US$ 63.22 million (27.45 percent), and Taiwan at US$ 24.88 million. (19.15 percent).

Export of the seven main commodities decreased compared to August 2022. Articles of apparel and clothing accessories (knitted) commodities fell the most by US$ 23.69 million (minus 19.19 percent).

According to the main destination countries, export to half of the main countries decreased compared to August 2022, namely Malaysia US$ 75.99 million (minus 26.60 percent), Vietnam US$ 39.99 million (minus 26.42 percent), Philippines US$ 87.46 million (minus 16.06 percent), Thailand US$ 50.83 million (minus 13.67 percent), and the United States US$ 68.52 million (minus 3.38 percent).
